Aspen ECO FEST - in stunning Aspen, Colorado over the Earth Day weekend of April
24th and 25th 2010. An exciting event - get information, get involved, test products,
experience all things re-made, re-used, sustainable and organic - come be entertained by
people who care about the planet. ECO FEST is a cultural and educational
environmental festival – blending lifestyle, business, and the environment, free to the
public, and organized and produced specifically for the Western Slope community.
Aspen ECO FEST will be interactive, entertaining and exciting. This year’s ECO FEST
will include a wide variety of demonstrations.

Through dynamic exhibits, and workshops, ECO FEST will foster public awareness
about opportunities for environmental change specific to the Western Slope. Inspiring
people to take the initiative in making their homes, businesses and communities more
ecologically advanced and environmentally sound, while encouraging economic success,
activism, creativity, and commitment to a sustainable society: Aspen ECO FEST aims to
please.
ECO MARKET PLACE
Saturday and Sunday
Featuring vendors with items for purchase that are sustainable, recycled, reused, organic,
hand made, or home grown. The marketplace will offer everything from electric vehicles,
clothing, art, food to natural facials. All vendor booths in the Eco Market Place will be
providing a service – interactive and entertaining.
Craftsman Alley - demonstrations will include active participation to achieve a better
understanding of the techniques involved and the way these artisans appreciate the natural
world through their crafts.
ROUND TABLE CONVERSATIONS
Saturday and Sunday
Facilitated by the Alliance for Sustainable Colorado – comfortably set at the Inn at Aspen
participants will have the unique opportunity to discuss one on one or within a small group
green investing, greening of the home, eco-policy. Financial experts will be available to
offer information and tips on socially responsible and sustainable investing answering
specific questions. Learn about the top 10 things you can easily do to make your home or
business more efficient – hands on demonstration and personal interaction. Talk directly
with policy maker and shakers – you can make a difference!
ECO SWAP MEET
Saturday and Sunday
The rage for recycling household goods! A yard sale on steroids!
A great opportunity to conserve, preserve and recycle what you've got and what you've
got to give. Swap meets are super green events because they are all about reduce, reuse,
recycle, and freecycle! This is a great place to exchange ideas about upcycling and going
green. We are expecting people to bring anything from couches and appliances to
decorative items. Everything brought to the ECO SWAP is required to be in good
working condition (gently used) and available for either sale or swap.
CLUNKER BIKE CRITERIUM
Saturday
A fun and festive criterium allowing entrants to use ‘clunker’ bikes (remade/recycled parts
to make up the bicycle) and follow a course through obstacles where both time and skill
will be important – as well as sense of humor!
ENVIRONMENTAL ART SHOW
Saturday and Sunday – Judging Saturday night, awards Sunday
A unique opportunity to have fun while promoting environmental awareness - the
ENVIRONMENTAL ART SHOW, hosted by the Aspen Red Brick Center for the Arts,
will be a showcase for artists and art organizations to inspire people about the potential of
recycling and conserving: creating artwork of all types from ‘trash’.
The Art will be on display throughout the course of the event and event judges will be
voting for best in show in various categories. The Art will be available for sale after the
event.
Special prizes will be presented at 2:00 pm on Sunday, April 25th to a first-prize winner
in two categories: individual artist and group submission. Honorable mention prizes may
also be presented by the three judges from the area’s art community. The contest is open
to everyone including experienced and aspiring artists of all ages and backgrounds.

Walk the green carpet in your ECO attire, whether it’s made of hemp or natural cotton,
reused from a formal ball of your past, or remade from your plastic grocery bags you will
feel right at home at our GREEN TIE BALL. Attire is environmental Green Tie (not
necessarily the color). We will start the evening with cocktails and hor’s d’oevers,
followed by a scrumptious and eco-friendly dinner while being dazzled by our eco-fashion
extravaganza and culminating in dancing and desserts. This will be an eco-evening not to
be missed!
ECO FASHION SHOW
Saturday during the Green-tie Ball
If it’s in fashion, it must be green! Combining the trends of fashion and sustainability, the
ECO FASHION SHOW is proud to bring the best of both worlds to the runway.
This eco-friendly fashion show will feature local designers, thrift stores and boutiques who
focus on wearing your heart (and environmental conscience) on your sleeve. Watch
models take over the stage in organic cotton, bamboo, recycled and reworked styles with
a green edge.
CANINE ECO FASHION SHOW
Sunday
Inviting participants from all over the western slope to dress their animals in an eco-canine
theme – be creative with hemp, natural cotton, plastic grocery bags, etc. A paw-sitively
great time to be had by all doggies! Lots of prizes. Entry fees will be donated in part to
the Aspen Animal Shelter (spay/neuter programs).
